Consignments

A consignment is one movement of material between sites or organisations. Each party on it records only its own facts: you record what you sent, the receiver records what arrived, and nobody writes into anybody else’s record.

Open Deliveries in the menu for material leaving your custody, or Collections for material bound for you. Both open the same Consignments page; the toggle at the top switches between them.

Each row shows the Code, Destination, State, What was sent and when it was Recorded. The state is one of Recorded, In transit, Delivered, At the destination, Receipted, Recalled or Written off.

To find one consignment from its paperwork, type the code printed on the docket into Docket code and select Find the movement. It finds the consignment whichever end of it you are on.

  1. Select Record a consignment on the Consignments page, or Send it on from a batch’s page.
  2. Under Connect what goes out, click each batch you want to send to wire it in. Click Disconnect to take one off.
  3. Under Destination, check the Origin (one of your own sites) and choose the Destination. Choose the Role enacted and who it is Dispatched by. Add a Tracking number · optional if the carrier gave you one.
  4. Check the summary: what goes Out, the Origin, Destination and Receiver.
  5. Select Dispatch (the button shows the total weight) and confirm with Dispatch — our half closes now.

Rules that apply:

  • Only sealed batches can go out. A batch whose seal does not yet stand is not offered; the screen tells you how many are hidden and links you to the Batches list to seal them. See Batches.
  • A batch goes out whole or not at all. There is no amount to type: what leaves is everything each batch has left. To send part of a batch, commit the rest somewhere else first.
  • Batches with nothing left, recalled batches, and batches measured in units that cannot be added to kilograms are not offered.
  • A destination flagged as a disposal site shows a Disposal badge.
  • A tracking number is kept as a reference only. Nothing in the record depends on it.

The receiver is a contact in your Contacts who is recorded at the destination site (the primary one, if there are several). When you dispatch, RezetHub emails them a link to confirm the delivery.

  • They need no RezetHub account. Following the link is the confirmation.
  • The link works for 7 days from dispatch. After that, or if the consignment was called off, the link says it no longer works and they should ask you for a new one.
  • On the consignment’s page, under Their docket, Confirmed by them shows the date they confirmed, Not yet while you wait, or Never answered · recorded as silence if you seal without hearing back.

If no contact is recorded at the destination, no email is sent.

When a consignment bound for you arrives:

  1. Open it from Collections.
  2. In The chain of custody, your step is marked Your turn. Select Receipt this consignment.
  3. This opens the arrival screen with the consignment already chosen. Record what arrived and how it arrived, then register it. See Register an arrival on Batches.

Receipting opens a new batch at your site. Weighing it is the next step, on that batch.

Sealing fixes the record of the consignment as it stands. It is an operations supervisor’s act.

  1. On the consignment’s page, under Seal the consignment, select Seal….
  2. Read the confirmation and select Seal — no more changes.

You can seal even if nothing has come back from the other end; the record will then say for ever that their end never answered. After sealing, the consignment accepts only corrections, appended beside what is there.

While a consignment has not been receipted, a supervisor can end it under End this movement. These are two different facts:

  • Pull the movement back: the material comes back onto your floor. Choose why it is coming back (for example The destination would not take the load or The movement was recorded and never happened), select Pull the movement back, then confirm with Recall — the chain ends here.
  • Write the material off: nobody has the material. Choose what happened to it (The material was lost on the way and has not been found, The material was destroyed on the way or The material was taken on the way), select Write the material off, then confirm with Write off — nobody has the material.

Keep it open backs out of either.
